Project VERITAS is a public-facing, theologically-informed AI blueprint designed to counter the critical threat of weaponised ethno-religious disinformation to Nigeria’s social cohesion. It empowers citizens by providing a secure and accessible tool to submit suspicious digital content, such as forwarded WhatsApp messages or social media posts, for immediate, nuanced evaluation. The AI performs a multi-layered critical analysis, verifying the authenticity and context of scriptural references, deconstructing manipulative rhetorical strategies, and providing neutral, fact-checked historical context to defuse emotionally charged claims. By equipping users with verifiable facts and de-escalating potential conflict, VERITAS then fosters constructive dialogue by offering them evidence-based language and non-confrontational strategies to engage productively rather than reactively. The ultimate goal is to build a resilient, digitally-literate citizenry and strengthen the fabric of national peace from the grassroots level up by inoculating the public against the viral spread of hate.
