This study investigated the extent to which selected psychosocial factors are associated with marital satisfaction among married senior secondary school teachers in Rivers East Senatorial District of Rivers State. A correlational research design was employed, with three research questions and three hypotheses providing direction for the investigation. The study population comprised 6,303 married senior secondary school teachers, from which 400 participants were selected using Taro Yamane’s sampling procedure and stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected through a researcher-developed instrument titled “Psychosocial Variables and Teachers’ Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire” (PVTMSQ). The instrument was subjected to expert validation, while its reliability was established through the test-retest method involving 30 married teachers who were not included in the main study. The reported reliability indices were 0.85 for the TPVQ and 0.96 for the TMSQ. Pearson Product-Moment Correlation was employed in addressing the research questions and testing the hypotheses, with statistical decisions made at the 0.05 alpha level. The results demonstrated statistically significant relationships between social skills, self-concept, effective communication, and marital satisfaction among married senior secondary school teachers. In light of these findings, the study recommended that married teachers cultivate a positive self-concept and strengthen their social skills as strategies for promoting marital satisfaction. It was further recommended that teachers foster open and constructive communication within their marriages to enhance the quality of marital relationships and achieve greater marital satisfaction.
