EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME EVALUATION OF THE UNIVERSAL BASIC EDUCATION (UBE) IN OBIO/AKPOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF RIVERS STATE
This study evaluated the objectives of the Universal Basic Education (UBE) in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. The study adopted summative evaluation model. The study revealed that there are 54 primary schools and 55 secondary schools under the UBE scheme in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. The purpose of the evaluation was to access the degree of achievement of the Universal Basic Education objectives in Obio/Akpor L.G.A. The study showed that there is a wide gap between the actual and expected outcomes of the programme. Based on these findings, it was concluded that UBE objectives be revisited in order to put things right. The study recommended that the UBE programme should be free of payment among other things.Â
