Distributed Leadership and Emotional Intelligence in Managing Organizational Change: A Case Study of GBS Malta Office Relocation

This study examined the role of distributed leadership and emotional intelligence in managing organisational change during the relocation of the Global Banking School (GBS) Malta office. Although distributed leadership is related to shared, team, situational, and democratic leadership, it remains conceptually distinct from these approaches. Organisational change refers to deliberate modifications aimed at improving organisational effectiveness, while emotional intelligence involves recognising, understanding, and appropriately managing one’s own and others’ emotions. The study adopted a qualitative research design involving five management staff of GBS Malta. Participants were selected through purposive sampling, and data were collected using open-ended questionnaires. Thematic analysis was employed, supported by manual coding and NVivo 12 software.
