Digital Transformation and Qur’anic Recitation Authenticity: An Integrative Framework for Fostering Students Development at Al-Ittifaqiah Islamic Boarding School

Tilawah (Qur’anic recitation) represents a devotional and aesthetic practice historically transmitted through oral traditions between teachers and students. The rapid development of digital technology has significantly influenced how students learn to recite the Qur’an, including those at Al-Ittifaqiah Indralaya Islamic Boarding School Indralaya. This study aims to analyze how digitalization affects the authenticity of Qur’anic recitation, the challenges it brings, and efforts needed to maintain high-quality recitation among students. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method through observation, documentation, and interviews with Qur’anic teachers, qari’, and students. The findings reveal that while digital platforms enhance access to recitation learning, they may also reduce the quality of melodic sensitivity (nagham), tajwid accuracy, and sanad authority when not accompanied by direct face-to-face instruction. This study highlights the necessity of integrating digital tools with traditional oral guidance to ensure the continued authenticity of Qur’anic recitation.
