Despite Nigeria’s signatory to many international human rights instruments and inspiring constitutional provisions for their protection, there are varying degrees of human rights violations in the nation. The study is an examination of Amnesty International and the protection of Human rights in Nigeria (2015 – 2025). Liberalism theory was employed. Information/data for the study were generated from both primary (interview) and secondary sources. The study found that Amnesty International Nigeria has had a significant impact on Nigerian society by raising awareness, mobilizing public opinion, influencing policies and holding authorities accountable for human rights violations. Amnesty International also supports victims of human rights violations and their families, and calls for accountability and justice for perpetrators. Despite these achievements, the organization has faced considerable challenges. Critics argue that Amnesty International’s effectiveness is hampered by biases, particularly in its selection of cases and regions of focus. Additionally, operating in conflict zones presents significant risks and logistical difficulties, limiting the organization’s ability to intervene effectively. Limited financial and human resources further constrain its capacity to address the growing complexity and scale of human rights violations globally. The study recommended that there is need for Amnesty International to engage more with the Nigerian government, the military, and other relevant stakeholders to foster dialogue, trust, and cooperation on human rights issues.
