BACKGROUND: Liver cirrhosis is one of the causes of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The detection of right ventricular abnormalities by echocardiography is an important step in identifying individuals with cardiovascular changes/abnormalities that have impact on the morbidity and mortality of patients with liver cirrhosis.
OBJECTIVES: To determine relationship between presenting laboratory parameters and right ventricular systolic or diastolic dysfunction in liver cirrhosis cases
METHODOLOGY: This is a cross- sectional analytical study that was carried out on two hundred and ten cases diagnosed with liver cirrhosis. Data were analysed using SPSS 23.0 statistical software.
RESULTS: Pack Cell Volume, International Normalized Ratio, Platelet count and ALBUMIN did not show significant correlation with systolic dysfunction. And same for diastolic dysfunction except albumin
CONCLUSION: Albumin concentration showed strong association with diastolic dysfunction in liver cirrhosis cases
