Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing healthcare by improving how we diagnose illnesses, make clinical decisions, monitor patients, manage electronic health records, and run hospital operations. As these technologies become part of everyday practice, new healthcare professionals are expected to blend their clinical skills with digital know-how. However, many early-career practitioners face challenges when moving from academic training to working independently, especially when trying to balance AI recommendations with their own judgement, ethical responsibilities, and patient-centered care.
Clinical mentoring has remained a key way to help early-career healthcare professionals adjust to the changing world of healthcare. Support from experienced practitioners helps new professionals build clinical skills, good judgement, confidence, resilience, a sense of professional identity, and digital literacy towards improving patients outcome, enhancing clinical competence and communication skills, strengthen professional relationship and knowledge transfer, confidentiality and professional trust etc.
This paper concludes that continued clinical mentoring remains an essential strategy for preparing early-career healthcare professionals to practice safely and effectively in an increasingly digital healthcare environment. Secondly that artificial intelligence should be viewed as a powerful partner in healthcare rather than a replacement for healthcare professionals. While AI has enormous potential to improve efficiency and support evidence-based clinical decisions, the responsibility for patient care will always rest with skilled, ethical, and compassionate practitioners.
